Happy National Bike Week!

As summer starts in Minnesota, we can all appreciate the great outdoors that is one of our state’s greatest attractions. For many of us, that means getting the bikes out of the garage, pumping up the tires, and hitting the trail. National Bike week began on June 3rd this year but there’s nothing stopping you from continuing the week of bicycles throughout the rest of the summer.

If you keep up with your local news, you’ve probably heard about the state-wide eBike rebate program. If not, we’d love to spread the news. Minnesota began a rebate program to lower the cost of purchasing an eBike – or electric-assisted-bike – with the hopes of lowering fuel emissions and encouraging Minnesota residents to get outside. The rebate application portal opened on June 5th and will be available until up to 10,000 applicants are approved. The terms of the rebate are as follows:

  • Once you have been approved by the state of MN for a rebate certificate, starting July 1st you may visit any of the retailers approved by the state to try-out, and/or purchase an eBike.
  • The certificate is worth 50-75% of a qualifying purchase, up to $1,500. The discount is based on your adjusted gross income for 2023 and varies depending on marital status.
  • Not only is riding a bike a great way to enjoy the Minnesota summer, but now there’s an additional incentive to try one of the fun new products that makes getting around a little bit easier as well. Here’s the link to the MN state sponsored rebate portal.

If you apply for the rebate after the approved applicant limit, don’t panic. Minnesota will be offering the same rebate program for the summer of 2025, so make sure you stay tuned for more news next summer and get outside while you still can – and remember to wear your helmet!
