My favorite part of this career is hearing the life-stories of our clients. I'm constantly meeting people whose stories carry valuable experience, which in-turn broadens my perspective.

Ethan is the newest member of the Vantage Point team, and he brings a new perspective as a former teacher. A 2020 graduate of North Dakota State University, Ethan applied his education degree to teaching in Fargo, North Dakota, Hopkins, and Columbia Heights, Minnesota.

Over the three years he was teaching, Ethan says he also discovered and developed a passion for investing, markets, and finance. “I love learning, talking, and reading about business and finance – I can’t get enough!” While he does miss teaching, Ethan appreciates that as an advisor, he can still care for and help people with their issues. In the process, he continues to learn and grow himself. “My favorite part of this career is hearing the life-stories of our clients. I’m constantly meeting people whose stories carry valuable experience, which in turn broadens my perspective.”

Ethan has also discovered that becoming an advisor is an inherently challenging job which requires him to continue his education. “Being in a position where I always have something more to learn keeps me excited.”

Growing up in Plymouth, Minnesota, Ethan was involved in tennis, cross country skiing, marching band (drumline), and Boy Scouts. “My coaches and adult leaders have been my mentors, and I credit them with helping me develop my strong work ethic and moral values.”

Ethan eventually became a mentor to others, spending his college summers as a counselor at a Bible camp in rural Wisconsin. The experience was pivotal: “I largely credit this camp for offering me the space and community I needed to find my place in the world.”

Today, Ethan is happy to be back living (and working) in Plymouth. “Exploring the rest of the country throughout college made me realize how special this state is – aside from the snow.”
